After having witnessed firsthand the wonderful sense of
craftsmanship, the attention to detail, and the tremendous spirit of the
building weekend, I have come away with a greater understanding and
appreciation of what Volunteer Builders represents.

I get choked up whenever I think about what you and your
merry band of volunteers were able to accomplish for the kids of Moorelands.
You designed the cabins and prepared the plans. You went out and found the
donations to make the work-weekend possible. You lugged a ton of food up
north and organized all the building materials, including their delivery.
You redesigned and decorated the camp, planned great socials and a silent
auction, produced over 600 delicious meals, and still found time to build 3
camper cabins! And despite the weird weather, the Volunteer Builders
remained positive, friendly and focused.

Moorelands Camp

Words cannot describe what occurred here this past weekend.
Three cabins in three days is amazing, but what I found more impressive was
the amount of people that came to our camp to help. I am no stranger to
volunteering, but never have I been on the other side where people were
volunteering for my cause and let me tell you, the feeling was very
powerful.

Although I can't claim I have visited all camps to compare,
I am sure of one thing. I know that when we think of the organization, team
work, support, kindness and good nature that the Volunteer Builders brought
to this camp at the beginning of June this year and combine it with the
stellar final product which I pass daily (in truth, probably 40 times
daily), in my mind there's no better building around.

All of this is a result of the vision of a few dedicated
folks who shared their passion for serving others with their friends. As a
result, over 150 people gave their time, efforts and skills to make one of
our dreams (envisioned over 5 years) a reality. I wish to thank Volunteer
Builders for their generosity and all of their suppliers who donated or
discounted the materials for these project builds.

When a goal and a dream become a reality, that is considered success. As a
Director of a specialized camp I always strive to provide the best for every
camper who attends and wants a great holiday. This year, my dreams have really
come true because of each and every Volunteer Builder. Success was achieved
through each and every one of you. Thank you so very, very much for everything
you have done for each and every person who loves camp. Keep up the great
work!
